Objections to £15million, 550-berth marina

A demonstration has been planned against a new 550-berth marina on the Braunston Canal (pictured) at Onley near Rugby.

The campaign against the planned £15million Barby Pools Marina is being led by Tim Coghlan, who is the managing director of nearby Braunston Marina.

Mr Coghlan said: ‘The strongest grounds for objection are the added congestion and pressure on water shortages that the development will make.

‘And secondly the development is land classified as open countryside, where there is no need for further marina development.’

The protest is from 2pm on October 7, this Sunday, at Barby Pools Marina’s proposed site by bridge number 81 on the North Oxford Canal.
