Northern city facility opens for Christmas

The brand new Newcastle City Marina has opened, for a trial period, just in time for waterborne Christmas visitors to the city centre.

An official grand opening will take place in the spring, with the start of the sailing season proper.

Situated between the Millennium and Tyne bridges, construction of the marina’s twelve new pontoons, providing moorings for vessels up to 12m (40ft) in length, finished in November.

Boats can moor, during daylight hours, for as little as £10-£15 a day.
