A period of time spent in fresh- or brackish- water, such as inland waterways or inside a lock will often leave your boat’s bottom as clean as a whistle. The wildlife attached to your hull won’t appreciate the fresh water and will die – although it will take about a week, a stay behind a lock-gate may work out cheaper than a lift-out and scrub.
