Changing engine oil on a Honda 4-stroke outboard
Perhaps the most basic maintenance operation of all, there are two tips worth noting: Step 4 – check and change the sump plug washer whenever possible and when using the dipstick on this Honda 4-stroke, do not screw the filler cap all the way in; simply rest it in the aperture to check the oil level in the engine.

1. Identify the sump plug

2. Undo with spanner until finger tight

3. Position suitable container and remove plug manually

4. Note condition of washer on sump plug and if in any doubt replace it

5. Retighten sump plug

6 Top up with correct grade of engine oil.

7. Don’t overfill! Note the expected volume of oil from the manual specifications and check regularly using the dipstick.
