If you’re planning to sail in the Solent on the August Bank Holiday weekend, you might want to avoid the Cowes Powerboat Grand Prix.

The race course will be in use from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 August, where boats will be travelling at speeds of up to 100mph. Viewing areas will be designated by race officials and for your safety the RYA insists spectator craft stay well clear of the course at all times.

Spectators are also asked to avoid creating excessive wash close to the race course, stopping close to race marks, following the boats or entering the restricted areas of the start chute.

The buoys will be laid on Thursday 24 August. Racing takes place from 1330 on Friday 25 until 1630 on Sunday 27. For full details, click here
