179-berth development a step nearer

A new Plymouth marina has become one step closer after the city’s planning committee approved plans for 179 berths in Millbay Dock.

The development, called King Point Marina, plans to provide berthing for yachts from five to 25 metres in length with an on-shore, two-storey building housing marina offices, shower and toilet facilities, storage areas and restaurant, retail or office units.

A glimpse of what could be achieved in the area occured in September when the America’s Cup World Series temporarily revived the once derelict harbour.

The Sutton Harbour Group, which also operates an eponymous 490-berth marina in the city and Plymouth Airport, has been chosen to build and operate the new marina.
