Last year's winner travelled 356 miles with his trailer-sailer to compete in the Maldon Town Regatta

Tow your trailer-sailer to Maldon to sail in the historic
Essex town’s regatta on the River Blackwater on September 27 and you could be
in with a chance of winning the coveted PBO Miles to Maldon Trophy.

This accolade is awarded annually to the
trailer-sailer that’s been towed the furthest to take part in the Maldon Town Regatta.

Last year’s trophy winner, Conrad Birtle, travelled 356 miles from
Abersoch in west Wales with his Red Fox
20 Hi Hopes.

Other trailer-sailers
travelled from as far afield as Suffolk and Oxford to participate in the
colourful racing pageant that mixes historic smacks with classic yachts and
modern boats.

PBO’s Dave
Selby, who lives in Maldon, will be available to advise on launching sites and
arrange overnight berths, or for longer periods, if you want to use the
opportunity to explore the Blackwater and its magical creeks and marshes.
