Lord Meakin
Dave Shellfish Selby sails the yachting equivalent of an Austin Allegro. Also, the picture that adorns the top left-hand side of his substandard waffle of a page in PBO is from about thirty years ago. Bart, his mad mutt has more dark hair! That said I thoroughly enjoy his waffle and he's not a bad bloke - a bloody awful sailor though!

The self-styled Lord Meakin is a well-known Wivenhoe social climber and "gaff lovey." He used to have a Stella, but ever since he's acquired an old gaff tub built mostly of epoxy he's gotten high-fallutin' notions and delusions of adequacy. It's very sad. He's mostly to be seen faling out of pubs spouting: "Of course, one never really owns a boat such as Buzzard, one feels privileged merely to be her custodian for one's time on earth, doncherknow." He's even taken to sailing in tweeds and cravat. And his boat's slower than Dave's Sailfish, so there!
