Brighten up old, stained varnishwork

Inside many old/ageing yachts, you'll find peeling varnish, and dark, stained wood, where water damage has occurred. One option is to paint the offending area white - it'll reflect light, transform the interior and make the whole boat look more modern. This is an especially good idea if you're selling the boat - it's much easier to maintain than varnish and should encourage a reluctant buyer.
