Police identify man who fell overboard his anchored yacht on Saturday

The yachtsman who fell overboard his anchored yacht Grey Seal on Saturday has been identified as 45-year-old David Taylor.

An air and sea search off the Lizard peninsula failed to find Mr Taylor, who is presumed drowned. His lifejacket was found onboard the yacht, which was anchored close to Mullion with its engine running. The alarm was raised by a hotel worker who was concerned the Grey Seal was anchored in a position subject to heavy swell.

Police also investigated the possibility a second crewman may have been onboard, but ruled this out after a witness said she’d mistaken the sail for a person.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr Taylor is asked to contact the police on 0845 277 7444.
