American defence officials have announced that all four people taken by Somalian pirates from the yacht Quest on Friday have been killed.

A US Navy ship was negotiating with the pirates early this morning when gunfire was heard. The forces boarded the vessel, killing two pirates, but found the American captives dying. Despite giving first aid, none could be saved.

Naval personnel captured the remaining 13 pirates.
