It is more than 100 miles from the sea and in demand

The newly-formed Chipping Norton Yacht Club
has unveiled its burgee.

The club flag has been created by local graphic designer Chloe Taylor who comes from Spelsbury near Chipping
Norton in Oxfordshire and who is currently working at Pinewood Film Studios.

The burgee gets its inspiration from the
international code flags ‘C’ and ‘N’.

Chloe said: ‘I based the design for the burgee on the ‘C’ and ‘N’ of
Chipping Norton.

‘I have discovered that code flag ‘C’ means Yes and code flag
‘N’ means No.

‘I hope that does not
confuse any passing admirals or suggest the club members are indecisive.’.

The design, as well as being used on
the club burgee, will be used on a variety of club products from T-shirts to
mugs.

The first meeting of the club will be on
Wednesday 30 January at the town’s golf club on London Road.

Membership of the club is open to anyone interested in boats and the sea, not
just those who own a boat.

People joining before the first meeting will benefit
from a ‘founder members’ discount – annual membership for individuals will be £30
while for a couple it will be £50.
