The bodies of three yachtsmen missing off the South Coast have been recovered near the Isle of Wight. It’s thought they belong to 27ft yacht Ouzo, which disappeared on Sunday after leaving Bembridge for a passage to Dartmouth.

A massive air and sea search was launched on Tuesday when fishermen came across the body of a 36-year-old man 10 miles off the Nab Tower. The man had not been reported missing, but was identified as James Meaby of Tooting, London, after his description was given to the press. Mr Meaby was known to have been sailing with two friends, both experienced sailors.

The bodies of two other men, who have not yet been identified, were discovered at 1930 on Wednesday, 10 miles west of Mr Meaby’s body. The search has now been called off, although the vessel, a Sailfish 25, is still missing. It’s thought it may have been involved in a collision as no distress call was made. Investigations are underway by Hampshire Police.
