Places still remain for a Cruising Association seminar

A special interest day seminar run by the Cruising Association (CA) will be taking place next month.

Long-standing CA member Vyv Cox and his son Owen will be presenting a talk on the topic of Understanding
Your Yacht’s Auxiliary Systems.

The event will be held on Sunday 24 February 2013 at CA House in London’s Limehouse Basin, from 1000-1600hrs.

The seminar aims to provide the practical
yacht owner with the information needed to understand, maintain and repair
their boat’s auxiliary systems, including domestic water, engine cooling,
refrigeration, toilets and anchoring to contribute to the safety, security and
comfort aboard.

Maintenance and repair knowledge is
essential to fix problems and understand services to keep your boat fully
operational, comfortable, and to enjoy chilled food and drink.

Vyv Cox, a chartered engineer, qualified metallurgist and mechanical engineer, is a regular
technical contributor to yachting magazines and expert in diagnosis of engineering
failures.

Both experienced speakers,
Vyv and his son Owen, a specialist in refrigeration, will explain the mysteries
of yacht systems; how best to repair and maintain them, and ways to reduce the
risk of faults and failures occurring in the first place.

As well as hundreds of hours spent
working on boat systems, both father and son have extensive sailing and cruising
experience in UK, Baltic and Mediterranean waters.

There will be ample opportunity for
questions on all topics during the day and delegates are welcome to discuss any
problems they may have on their own boats.

Some practical maintenance examples will be included, and hand-outs
will be provided.

A CA spokesman urged would-be participants to sign up soon.

She said: ‘There are still places but it’s advisable to book as soon as possible as places are limited.’
