A collision between a powerboat and a jetski near the entrance to Poole Harbour on Saturday has again called into question the safety of jetski use in crowded boating areas.
At around 1.30pm, the skipper of a motor-boat, Cats Whiskers reported to the Coastguard that a jet ski with one male rider had collided with the motor-boat Albabra in the entrance to Poole Harbour.
Portland Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 106 was scrambled, along with Poole RNLI and the Poole harbour launch Vixen.
The helicopter crew airlifted the jet-skier to a waiting ambulance for transfer to hospital. It was reported that the man had been thrown from his craft and had sustained head injuries.
None of the three people on board Albabra had sustained any injuries.
The Marine Accident Investigation Branch have been informed.
The incident follows the collision in early June when a PWC rider sustained leg injuries following a collision with a trimaran in Studland Bay outside Poole Harbour.
Dorset Marine Police are still investigating the incident but the MAIB have decided not to investigate.

It is getting to the point now where idiot jet skiers need closer monitoring around the poole harbour, studland and swange bay area. I Jet Skied for years and it was great fun, hower I was always respectful of other water users.
Yesterday at Swanage there were a group lads from Bristol who had bought a ski off of ebay it turned out. They had no insurance, no data tag and no common sense. They were going between the boats and swimmers at about 40. Who is going to do something before someone gets killed. There have already been two serious accidents in two months. They dont seem to be aware of or in some cases care about the rules. The police should get a grip of it at the slipways and stick some fines on these idiots!
