Fisher boats 40th anniversary celebrations

Tue, 29 Jun 2010 - Thu, 1 Jul 2010

This year will be the 40th Anniversary of the original design Freeware 30 of which the plugs for the Freeward were made at Cheverton workboats in the Isle of Wight, and then moved to Robert Ives yard in New Milton, Hampshire to be laid up.

The first boat was moulded in June 1970 then returned to Cheverton to be fitted out. One year had now passed from
design to the start of production of hull No 1 which was launched in September of that year.

Freeward 30 , was built up to and after 1971 but in smaller numbers and it was David Skellon of Fairways Marine who came up with the idea of reversing the slope of the wheelhouse to give it the fishing boat profile.

The Fisher brand was born.

To Commemorate this, a three day event as been planned for the 29 June - 1 July 2010 in the Isle of Wight.

If any Freeward/Fisher owners who are based or are thinking of visiting the UK this summer with their Fisher and would like to come a long to this event for the Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday you will be made very welcome, also we are planning some sailing and land based event.

This event will be open to all fisher owners, but because of limited number of places for the Thursday night event priority will be given to FOA, FOG, NFC members.
