Premier has invested £5.8million to build a state-of-the-art boatyard complex at the River Hamble site
The South Coast’s new Swanwick Marina boatyard development is on track for a Phase One opening this October.
Premier’s Swanwick Marina is located in the quieter upper reaches of the River Hamble. The marina accommodates over 300 berths and is home to a number of luxury boat sales brands.
With the existing boatyard having been in operation since the 1970’s, Premier has now invested £5.8million to build a modern, industry-leading boatyard complex with purpose-built accommodation for a suite of marine services.
Work on the new boatyard began in early 2014 and is divided into two phases: Phase One will be completed by mid-October 2014 and includes a new building that will house a mix of existing marine services and incoming new marine tenants attracted to the site.
There will also be a new hoist bay, a Dry Stack area, new luxury berth holder facilities and a self-service fuel pontoon.
A second phase, due to be completed by March 2015, will include an additional building for boat sales offices.
The new boatyard buildings will provide a flexible mix of workshops and offices, suited to marine services and sensitive to the need to preserve the character of the marina, the buildings have been designed in an architectural style that reflects the heritage buildings on the site.
The accommodation in the new development has proven to be popular and such has been the demand that Phase One has just one vacant unit remaining.
The new dedicated Dry Stack area will offer storage for 80 boats up to 10m and a new specialist forklift will operate in the area for fast lifting/launching. There will also be a new hoist bay and the new self-service fuel pontoon with high speed pumps will be located next to the boatyard.
