Norwegian takeover may save jobs

Two Norwegian investors may take over Sweden Yachts after the company filed for bankruptcy on March 23. Until a solution is found, 18 workers at the yard have been laid off.

“During these sad times it’s positive to inform that we have two strong Norwegian investors that have presented an offer for the company,” Kjeld Sonne told local newspaper Bohusläningen.

“We had no alternatives but to ask for bankruptcy,” he said. “But last Friday we reached a preliminary deal with two financially strong Norwegians that will go into the company with management and money as managing director and CEO.”

According to the article, the new owners can’t guarantee future work for all 60 employees but hope to keep as many as possible.
