HMS Westminster heads for London

National Boat Shows has announced that HMS Westminster will be on display at the London International Boat Show, 9-18 January 2009.

HMS Westminster, a type 23 Frigate, was launched in 1992 and commissioned into service in 1994.  The multi-role Type 23 can take on any mission from anti-ship and anti-submarine warfare protecting capital ships and merchantmen to providing humanitarian aid in the wake of a natural disaster. Westminster recently returned from Burma, where she attempted to administer humantarian relief to the cyclone-ravaged country.

The Type 23s have a specially designed superstructure that makes them hard to detect with radar – although visitors to Excel will find it a little easier to locate HMS Westminster, which will be moored outside on the marina throughout the duration of the Show.
