The world’s only surviving square-rigged tea clipper ship, undergoing restoration in dry dock at Greenwich, was on fire last night and this morning – “100% alight in the hold,” according to the chief fire officer on the site.

Fire crews were on the scene at 4:45AM, and set up a 200m cordon after concerns over cylinders, chemicals and other hazards on board.

Richard Doughty, the chief executive of the Cutty Sark Trust, said he had been told by the chief fire officer that the blaze was being treated as suspicious.
