First episode airs at 4pm today

A couple who quit jobs in the city to start a charter business are to appear in their own television series.

The Hungry Sailors premieres on ITV1 today at 4pm and will air at the same time every weekday over the next four weeks.

Nick Beck and Melisa Collett (both pictured) were working in financial IT in 2005 when a friend died in the London bombings, inspiring a lifestyle review that led to them commissioning a replica Scillonian Pilot for a new charter business, Topsail Adventures, based in Poole.

Nick said: ‘We realised that if you have a dream you’d better get on with it and in our friend’s memory that’s what we’re doing.

‘The tragedy was the reason we quit our jobs and fulfilled our dream of launching a sailing charter business. We decided life really was too short.’

Last year a TV crew, along with Celebrity Masterchef finalist Dick Strawbridge and his son James, stepped on board for 60 days with Nick to film a journey from Fowey, Cornwall to the City of London, visiting food producers and cooking local delicacies en route.
