Boat owners were evacuated from a Southampton marina on Sunday after a fire broke out on a 32ft yacht. The vessel, Crinian, was moored at Shamrock Quay when it burst into flames at 1835. Nobody was injured in the blaze, but the yachts either side had to be moved, and eight people whose vessels were moored nearby were ushered to safety.

Firefighters tackled the blaze with foam for over an hour before eventually bringing it under control. Investigations are now underway as to the cause of the fire, which started in the yacht’s engineroom.
