Mike Humphreys built his first cruiser from a kit, in his modest garden. The 23ft Hrunting hosted years of family holidays out of Brough, on the Humber.

Later the garden was occupied by a 28ft Colvic Countess which arrived by crane as an empty hull. Mike built it from scratch and named her Last Laugh, because neighbours said he’d never complete it. She sailed from Hull Marina and is now moored at Ferriby, on the Lincolnshire coast.
