Emrhys Barrell has been in and around boats all his life. Qualifying as a Naval Architect he managed boatyards in the UK and USA before moving into marine journalism.

He was Technical Editor at Motor Boat & Yachting before leaving to launch his own magazines, Motorboats Monthly, Luxury Yacht, Riverboat and Mediterranean Motorboats.

A long-time advocate of electric boating, his company has spearheaded many developments in this field. At one point he held a UIM World Electric Boat Record.

He lives beside the Thames at Goring, with an electric dayboat on the river, an Avenger 21 on the driveway, and classic cars in the garage.
