Ed Phillips and his wife, Carolyn, are lifelong sailors and Commercially Endorsed RYA Yachtmasters. In the 1990’s Ed was Captain of the HISC Fireball Fleet.

Following a successful military and commercial career in the IT industry, in 2013 Ed set up and became the founding chairman and CEO of Portsmouth Sail Training Trust in order to enable socially deprived young people to pursue careers in the marine industry.

In 2020, having converted their yacht to be fully electric he, Carolyn and a couple of friends set up e-Solent Ltd to help enable sailors to convert to eco boating.
