Norfolk boat owners urged to be vigilant

Boat owners in Norfolk are being asked to be on their guard after an outboard motor was stolen over Christmas.

A Yamaha F9D engine was taken from a boat in Barton Turf between 1300 on Christmas Day and 1000 on Boxing Day.

The motor was locked up, but offenders prised the locks off.

Local police want boat owners to increase their security measures by not leaving valuables on display, storing your ignition key off the boat, using strong padlocks and removing outboard motors from the boat over winter.

Anyone with information about the theft should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
