New batch of Navitus Bay public exhibitions, same material

Eight more informal public drop-in surgeries are being held by the Navitus Bay team about its proposals for an offshore wind park.

The three hour drop in surgeries will be held across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

These informal sessions follow the Phrase Three public exhibitions held in February and provide another opportunity for people to learn about the plans and ask the project team any questions that they might have.

The proposed Navitus Bay Wind Park is located off the Dorset and
Hampshire coast and to the west of the Isle of Wight; the development
area will cover an area of approximately 67 sq miles (175 square
kilometres).

Subject to planning and gaining consent, construction could start in
2017 with the first wind turbines starting to generate energy by 2020. A
fully operational wind park is anticipated in 2020/2021.

Mike Unsworth, project director for Navitus Bay Development Limited, said: ‘Navitus Bay is committed to comprehensive consultation and ensuring that the local community is provided with as many opportunities as possible to access information on the proposed wind park.

‘Now people have had a chance to consider our plans, the surgeries provide a further occasion for them to ask the project team questions and collect project information.

‘No new material will be displayed.

‘Phrase Three consultation continues until Friday 5 April and we would encourage as many as possible to make their views known. Project information is currently displayed in public libraries and on our website where you can complete an online consultation form.
