John Lansdell makes a cheap chain-pipe cover from plastic drain pipe

To reduce the amount of water that runs down my chain pipe, I have a two-piece cover cut from a scrap piece of plastic, square-section downpipe. Each piece has two slots which slide through and around a link of the chain. When placed over each other they close around the link to make a pretty good fit, and are held in place by the weight of the chain. A lip on the upper piece also acts to stop them falling off.
