Turn your workmate into a more useful work surface with Alan Morrison's simple tip
This might come under the heading of ‘bleeding obvious’, but I have found it to be very useful when working on my boat in the dinghy park at my local yacht club.
Take a suitably-sized piece of 3⁄4in ply and screw a length of 2×1 batten down the middle. Turn it over and the 2×1 clamps into the jaws of the Workmate, creating a steady worktop which won’t fall off.
