RYA urges clubs to apply

From this summer, £32 million in Lottery funding is being funnelled into ‘Sportivate‘, an initiative which aims to attract 14-25 year olds to sports.

The four-year Sport England programme allows for six weeks of coaching in the young person’s preferred activity, to be run by local centres.

Watersports including sailing are very much on the agenda, and the RYA is encouraging sailing clubs to apply for inclusion.

Deadlines for the current tranche of funding vary county by county, so questions on eligibility and applications should be made to your local County Sports Partnership. Contact them via this link.

Hosting for next year’s London Olympics (incorporating Weymouth and Portland-based sailing events) was won partly on the promise to involve as many young people as possible in sport.
