Tried to sell stolen dinghy and outboard online

Two thieves were caught when police bid for a stolen dinghy and outboard motor on eBay, a court has been told.

The prosecutor, Diane Williams, told Dolgellau Magistrates, North Wales that the goods and a second outboard were stolen on three different dates in August from a slipway in Aberdovey (pictured).

She said: ‘The stolen equipment was advertised on eBay and North Wales Police managed to successfully bid for the dinghy and one of the outboard motors.’

Details of the seller were followed up by police and Adam Maiden, 22 from Kidderminster, admitted the thefts.

He was given a community order by the magistrates, as was another man, Tommy Taylor, by Kidderminster Magistrates.
