PBO’s writers were in spotlight yesterday when Jake Kavanagh and Ian Hardy entertained Boat Show visitors on the newly founded IPC Stage.

Jake’s presentation ‘Cartoons for Kids’ went down a storm with excited children and weary parents alike, attracting a crowd that spilled over the spacious seating arena. Pens and paper were handed out, and the audience drew along with Practicals editor, Jake, learning how to create a variety of expressions and sounds made by young volunteers asked onto the stage. Perhaps the demonstration was a little too successful: surprised at how good the children were at drawing, Jake joked ‘In 10 years time I’ll have a lot of competition!’

Following this came Ian Hardy’s daily talk: ‘First Aid at Sea’, which was similarly well-attended. Ian made it clear that learning about first aid never stops, commenting that a conversation with PBO staff about the difficulties of administering to one’s own injuries inspired the design of his bulkhead-mounted Single-handed First Aid Kit.

PBO staff will be on the stand daily from 2pm until 4pm – come and say hello!
