Boaters given longer to comment on bylaw enforcement

Boaters in the Lake District have been given more time to register their views on the funding of bylaw enforcement.

The Lake District National Park Authority consultation has been extended by four weeks due to the high level of public interest shown. It’s targeted at boat owners on Windermere, Derwentwater, Coniston, and Ullswater, and aims to determine how to finance and operate patrol services on the lakes.

Sara Clarke, Windermere registration manager said: ‘It’s very encouraging that such a large number of people want to get involved. Naturally this extension is likely to have an impact on our initial timetable, but we feel it is vital to allow this extra time so that as many people as possible can have a say.’
