Couple rescued by a passing yacht

A husband and wife were saved from a 37ft motor cruiser which exploded on the River Fal on Sunday by a passing yacht.

See Falmouth RNLI footage of the incident below:

Emergency services were called to Turnaware Point at about 0130 on Saturday, to a Sealine 37, which caught fire while it was moored alongside a mid-river pontoon.

Falmouth RNLI attended and transferred firefighters from the shore to the pontoon and also put a medic on to the yacht to check on the couple.

The burnt-out hull of the motor cruiser was later towed by harbour launch and beached on Turnaware Bar to prevent it from sinking.
