The Cobb's Quay open weekend was held in conjunction with the RYA's Active Marina programme

Cobb’s Quay Marina welcomed local residents, boating enthusiasts and MDL berth holders and their families to its open weekend event.

Held over 17 to 18 May, the open weekend was held in conjunction with the RYA’s Active Marina Programme and offered a jam-packed line-up of events and free children’s activities.

Visitors were kept entertained with hula hoop workshops, RIB simulator rides, remote control boat races, a climbing wall and a fire juggling show, while the 55-strong Just Sing Choir provided the event soundtrack.

Powerboat Training UK provided training sessions, which included man overboard rescue scenarios and correct flare procedure, while the RNLI provided onshore demonstrations covering sea safety, lifejacket checks and boat maintenance. Poole Boat Hire was also on hand offering boat trips and boat rentals throughout the weekend.

The marina also hosted the Clipper Marine Used Boat Show, allowing visitors to browse a range of new and used boats on sale both ashore and afloat.

Neil Salter, general manager at Cobb’s Quay added: ‘We’re thrilled with the turnout the marina has seen over the weekend. It was brilliant to be able to showcase Cobb’s Quay and the facilities and services available.’
