The action starts this Friday

Organisers of the Falmouth Classics 2013 are gearing up for what promises to be a memorable weekend of racing and entertainment.

The three-day celebration of classic boats starts this Friday, June 14, and runs until Sunday, June 16, with a range of races and social events.

This year, the Falmouth Classics regatta has expanded into a weekend event, and organisers are also holding a Parade of Classic boats on Saturday morning.

The parade will showcase both sail and powerboats going around Falmouth Events Square and Customs House Quay.

Crews are encouraged to dress in appropriate period costume to enhance the occasion. After the display owners and crews will present their works of art to dignitaries who will select the best-presented boats and crews.

The event is designed for non-competitors to get involved and is open to everyone from spectators to owners and crews.

Weekend attractions also include the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, held over the same three days, with 35 groups of singers from all over the world.
