240 berths to be created in Irish harbour

Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company has been given approval for a 240-berth marina expansion.

An application for an amendment to existing planning was turned down by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council earlier this year. Today, however, An Bord Pleanála gave approval for what will be Phase Two of the marina.

The marina opened in 2001 and has already surpassed its occupancy target of 500 berth holders, which was expected to be reached in 2007. There is currently a waiting list of 160 who will welcome the news that more spaces will now be created.
