Well known sailors raced swans, J/24s and XODs

The British men killed when their helicopter crashed in Majorca on Saturday were both well-known sailors from Poole.

Alistair Evans and Mark Blaver -Mann had been regular competitors in a variety of racing yachts for many years. Alistair, a long-time member of Parkstone Yacht Club’s J/24 and XOD fleets, had followed his late father, Harry, into racing Swans, and enjoyed considerable success in 2011 with his Swan 37, Alvine XV. He had moved up to a Swan 38 only weeks before his death.

Pic shows Alistair Evans sailing his late father’s XOD, Alvine X.
