Chichester Harbour Conservancy are advising boat owners to be careful when using a tender: ‘We recognize that people are responsible for their own safety, but are concerned that some people are taking unnecessary risks,’ they said. Here are a few guidelines:

All persons in tenders wear lifejackets.

Tenders are not overloaded.

Weather, sea and tidal conditions are properly assessed.

Tenders carry a torch at night.

Tenders carry a means of summoning assistance.

Tenders are not used by persons under the influence of drink or drugs.
