Climax to day 34 of torch relay

The Olympic flame has crossed Lake Windermere on a boat.

Local triathlete Stephanie Booth, 15, carried the torch through Ambleside before boarding the steam boat, Tern, with it at Waterhead Pier.

The torch then travelled across Britain’s biggest lake to Bowness-on-Windermere where day 34 of the torch relay ended.

Miss Booth said: ‘It was fun and amazing and exciting and everyone was there cheering us on. The fact that it gets everyone involved is really special.’
