A lifeboatman is to receive one of the RNLI's highest honours in recognition of his work during the rescue of Liquid Vortex last month.
Dungeness volunteer Garry Clark will be awarded the Silver Medal for Gallantry for his 'exemplary bravery and determination' in rescuing seven people on 3 January, when he boarded the Bénéteau First 40.7 with a Force 11 severe storm on its way.
Since the rescue the yacht's operators - Hot Liquid - has had its RYA training recognition removed in the UK, as this was its third major safety incident in a year.
