Notice to Mariners published on Poole Harbour Commissioners website

Poole Harbour Commissioners has issued a local Notice to Mariners dated 21 August titled: Voluntary “No Anchor” Zone – Studland Bay

Mariners are advised that a voluntary “No Anchor” zone will be established in Studland Bay marked by 6 yellow buoys. 4 buoys marking the corners and 2 buoys marking the centre.

Work will commence on: 25 August 2009

Deputy Harbour Master Ian Bishop said the Notice was as a courtesy since Studland Bay was outside his jurisdiction. ‘The no anchor zone was requested by Natural England to study the effect of boating on the eelgrass. It will be set up by a private contractor. Poole Harbour Commissioners will be setting up a further such zone at Whitley Lake in the near future,’ he added.
