Scow

Various designs of small boat. In the USA a scow is long, lean, and of boxlike cross-section,
with bilgeboards – like centreboards – port and starboard. But in
Britain a scow is likely to be a clinker dinghy, eleven or twelve feet long,
shallow in the body but be amy, and setting a lugsail.
