If your compass' lens is crazed and UV-damaged, try polishing it with Brasso or a metal wax polish. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes- and you won't need to buy a new compass after all!

I would recommend toothpaste which does not contain any suspension oils that might cause further damage in the future. We used this on a very tired hire yacht compass and it worked a treat - just the thing to keep you busy when becalmed and the fish aren't biting!
