Stop your gas bottles rusting

Smear your way to a clean boat

Gas bottles have a tendency to rust in the damp sea air, leaving rust stains all over your boat. Try smearing vaseline onto the outside of the cylinder, which should stop it rusting and keep your boat mark-free. An alternative is a dedicated anti-corrosion compound, such as 'corrosion block'.

Spray the cylinder with WD40, it was originally formulatef to stop nuclear missiles rusting in their silos

Put a plastic bag underneath the gasbottle (as well) to avoid stains on the boat.

Gently melt candle wax and Vaseline together and quickly paint on any metal surface, it doubles as rustproofing and helps when need to remove ice

Welcome to the 21st century. After using composite tanks for almost two years I sea no reason to go back to Heavy and Corroded metal tanks. We have bought and used theese in the USA.
Back home in Norway theese tanks have been available the last 15 years or so. They are great.

Use gavanized steel.. Have 2 bottles on board for 10years they been doused with seawater numerous times NO RUST.
To prevent marks put slit garden hose on base, fill hose with silicone push on to bottle turn bottle over & let stand on hose till cured
