Fambridge Yacht Haven hosts this years Fambridge Yacht Haven River festival this Sunday 05th June 2016. It will be held by the waterfront at the Yacht Station, Ferry Road in the village of North Fambridge from 11.00am until mid afternoon and promises to have something for everyone.

 

Several local and historic sailing craft will be with us on the day and opening their hatches for enthusiasts to explore and learn more about our rich maritime heritage. The Yacht Station visitor pontoon will provide berthing for the Vic 56 a Steam Coasting Lighter or “Puffer”, a 64ft celebrated sailing smack, a 60ft Dutch Barge and Thames sailing Barge ‘ironsides’. On site, the Society of Sailing Barge Research will be available to give an interesting insight into the history of the classic Thames Sailing Barge.

 

Also down on the water there will be lots going on including FREE dinghy sailing tasters sessions, a Royal Burnham One Design Yacht Race, and a charity duck race for the whole family to enjoy. South Eastern Marine Services will also be giving a life raft demonstration.

 

Our local emergency services will also be here including the Burnham RNLI, South Woodham Ferrers Coastguard and Essex Marine Police to give an insight into their role in the local costal waters and giving tips on the safety aspects of boating. The RNLI Sea Safety Roadshow will also be with us offering complimentary lifejacket inspections and Sea Safety Checks, don’t forget to bring your lifejacket!!

 

Just on the other side of the sea wall you will find a large gathering of local companies and organisations to broaden your sailing knowledge and keep you up to date with local events.

Joining us will be , First Class Sailing, DRS Rigging, The Wetworks, Tideway Dinghies, Dolphin Sails, representatives from Radio Caroline and a small Boat Jumble. Members from the North Fambridge Yacht Club, & West Wick Yacht Club to give information on their programme of events for the season, including Yacht racing, beginners sailing, club cruises and dinner/dances.

 

To keep you entertained there will be live   music and The Ferry Boat Inn pub will be providing the on-site catering with a licensed Outdoor Bar and BBQ.

 

Finally representatives from Fambridge Yacht Haven will have a central presence throughout the day keeping you up to date with all of the details of times for races, demonstrations and information in how to take part in the fun events planned throughout the day.
