Chocolate biscuits wash up on Blackpool Beach

Thousands of packets of chocolate biscuits have washed up on shore from the stricken ferry Riverdance, grounded off the Lancashire coast this weekend.

The 6,000-ton vessel was carrying trucks and trailers from Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland to Heysham, Lancashire, on Thursday evening when bad weather ran it aground off Blackpool beach. All 23 people on board were airlifted to safety.

The biscuits were littered on the beach between Blackpool and Cleveleys over the weekend as Police sealed off large parts of the Promenade.

The MCA has reported that no pollution has been spotted from the stricken ship.
